Chateau Deyrem Valentin 2018 Margaux

Château Deyrem Valentin 2018 Margaux is a classic Left Bank Bordeaux that delivers the elegance and floral character that define the Margaux appellation. The excellent 2018 vintage gives the wine added richness and concentration, while the estate’s traditional approach preserves balance and finesse. With vibrant red fruit, subtle tobacco and spice, and polished tannins, it is a refined Cru Bourgeois Margaux that offers both immediate charm and the ability to age gracefully.

Origins & Craftsmanship
Château Deyrem Valentin is a historic family estate located in Soussans in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux’s Médoc, with roots dating back to 1730. The property has been managed by the Sorge family for several generations, and today Jean Sorge works alongside his daughters Sylvie and Christelle, continuing the estate’s family-run tradition.

The vineyard covers roughly 13 hectares planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with small amounts of Petit Verdot and other traditional Bordeaux varieties. These vineyards lie among several classified growth estates in northern Margaux and benefit from the gravel soils typical of the Médoc, which encourage excellent drainage and produce wines with aromatic complexity and refined structure.

The 2018 blend is approximately:

  • 53% Cabernet Sauvignon

  • 46% Merlot

  • 1% Petit Verdot

Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled tanks before the wine is aged around 15 months in French oak barrels, roughly one-third of which are new.

The estate is classified Cru Bourgeois Supérieur, reflecting its consistent quality and long-standing reputation within the Margaux appellation.

Critics Reviews

  • Wine Enthusiast– 92 Points
. . . .shows much of the Margaux elegance. The firm tannins and bold structure are mitigated by succulent and ripe black-currant flavors. It needs to age, not to be drunk before 2025.

  • Jeff Leve (The Wine Cellar Insider) – 92 Points
Leve describes the wine as showing fresh, ripe red fruits with hints of coffee bean, wet earth, and tobacco, noting its supple texture and energetic finish.

  • Guide Hachette des Vins – 2 Stars (Remarkable Wine)
The Hachette Wine Guide highlights its ample structure, fresh fruit, and toasted oak notes, describing a powerful yet balanced Margaux with good aging potential.
