Graham's 20 Year Old Tawny Port 375 ml

Graham’s 20 Year Old Tawny Port 375 ml is one of the classic benchmark aged tawnies from Portugal’s Douro Valley—luxurious, deeply complex, and beautifully balanced. With two decades of maturation in seasoned oak casks, the wine develops remarkable layers of dried fruit, toasted nuts, caramel, and citrus peel while maintaining freshness and elegance. Smooth, sophisticated, and endlessly rewarding, it represents the perfect balance between richness and refinement, making it an outstanding after-dinner wine or pairing for desserts and fine cheeses.

Origins & Craftsmanship

Graham’s is one of the historic houses of Port wine, founded in 1820 in Porto, Portugal, and today owned by the Symington family, one of the most respected names in the Douro Valley.

The grapes for Graham’s Ports come primarily from the Douro Valley, one of the world’s oldest demarcated wine regions. Traditional Douro grape varieties—including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão, and Sousão—contribute structure, aromatics, and depth to the final blend.

Unlike Vintage Port, which ages mainly in bottle, Tawny Port matures in oak casks, where gradual exposure to oxygen transforms the wine’s character over time. This slow oxidative aging develops the signature tawny color and nutty complexity while softening tannins and concentrating flavors.

Graham’s 20 Year Old Tawny is a blend of many vintages whose average age in wood is about twenty years. During this long maturation, the wine acquires its amber-gold color and the elegant dried-fruit and nut flavors typical of top aged tawny Ports.

Bottled at approximately 20% ABV, the wine retains natural sweetness because fermentation is halted with the addition of grape spirit during production, preserving residual sugar and stabilizing the wine for long aging.

The result is a fortified wine that is both concentrated and remarkably smooth, ready to drink upon release yet capable of maintaining freshness for weeks after opening.

Critics Reviews

James Suckling awarded Graham’s 20 Year Old Tawny Port 94 points, highlighting dried fruit, toffee, spice, and a layered, focused finish.

Wine Spectator scores the wine 93 points, describing it as “plump and inviting” with red and black cherry compote, hazelnut husk, date, and baking spice notes.

Wine & Spirits also rated the wine 93 points, noting its savory complexity and layered structure.
