Origins & Craftsmanship

Old Forester’s Birthday Bourbon is released each September 2 in honor of founder George Garvin Brown, making it one of bourbon’s most anticipated limited editions. 

• For 2025, Old Forester departs from the traditional sour mash method — for the first time in the Birthday Bourbon series, this year uses a sweet mash process (no setback) to yield more delicate fermentation character and complexity.
• The 2025 edition was drawn from 210 barrels filled on April 5, 2013, aged in Warehouse K (1st & 5th floors) under heat cycling conditions. 
  
• It maintains the brand’s commitment to high standards: bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV) with a 12-year age statement and limited production.

Tasting Profile

Nose:
A fragrant opening of herbal tea, cardamom, green apple, and tropical fruit, layered with oak, vanilla, and gentle spice. 

Palate:
Well-rounded and textured: oak and vanilla lead, joined by citrus (lemon peel), clove, and mid-palate tropical notes. The sweet mash approach brings nuance and a slightly softer backbone. 

Finish:
Candied apple, leather, chai notes, and chai spice linger with warm oak and a touch of baking spice.
