The Mascot 2021 Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend – Harlan Estate Family Collection
The Mascot 2021 is one of Napa Valley’s most compelling insider wines—delivering the DNA of Harlan Estate, BOND, and Promontory in a more accessible, earlier-drinking format. It combines power, polish, and freshness with remarkable balance. This is a serious Napa Cabernet-based blend that consistently overdelivers relative to its pedigree.
Origins & Craftsmanship
The Mascot is produced by Harlan Estate under the direction of Will Harlan, drawing fruit from the younger vines of three of Napa Valley’s most prestigious properties: Harlan Estate, BOND, and Promontory.
Originally an internal project shared among the family and team, the wine evolved into a standalone label beginning with the 2008 vintage.
The 2021 vintage reflects hillside vineyard sites across Napa Valley, where fractured bedrock soils and optimal exposure produce wines of concentration and structure. The blend is Cabernet Sauvignon–dominant, with supporting Bordeaux varietals, crafted in a style that emphasizes both approachability in youth and long-term aging potential.
The wine is typically aged in French oak and released after extended élevage, giving it a level of polish uncommon at this tier.
Tasting Profile
Nose: Blackberry, cassis, and red currant layered with violet, graphite, and subtle espresso.
Palate: Medium to full-bodied with a dense core of dark fruit, chocolate, and mineral notes, supported by fine, polished tannins and fresh acidity.
Finish: Long and refined, with lingering dark fruit, savory herbs, and a mineral-driven edge.
