Turley 2024 “Juvenile” Zinfandel California 750ml
Turley 2024 Zinfandel “Juvenile” is one of California’s most recognizable and beloved Zinfandels—vibrant, fruit-driven, and irresistibly expressive. Designed as an early-drinking counterpart to Turley’s legendary old-vine bottlings, Juvenile captures the exuberant personality of the grape with juicy blackberry, raspberry, and peppery spice. Bold yet balanced, it showcases the hallmark richness of California Zinfandel while remaining fresh, energetic, and approachable.
Origins & Craftsmanship
Turley Wine Cellars, founded in 1993 by Larry Turley, has become one of the most influential producers of Zinfandel in California, focusing almost exclusively on the grape and on the preservation of historic vineyards.
While Turley’s flagship wines come from old vines often 50–130 years old, the “Juvenile” bottling is made from younger vines replanted within those same historic sites. These vines typically range from about 6 to 25 years old, offering vibrant fruit and freshness compared with the denser, more structured old-vine cuvées.
The wine blends fruit from multiple organically farmed vineyards across California, including sites in regions such as Napa Valley, Sonoma County, Mendocino, Contra Costa, Paso Robles, and Lodi.
Key production elements include:
- 100% Zinfandel
- Fruit sourced from numerous carefully farmed vineyards
- Fermentation in small lots to maintain purity of fruit
- Aging in a mix of oak barrels to add texture and spice while preserving freshness
- Moderate production compared with Turley’s single-vineyard wines
Because the wine draws from a wide range of vineyard sites, Turley describes Juvenile as a “bellwether for the vintage”, capturing the overall personality of the growing season.
