Hibiki 21 Year Old Hiroshi Senju Edition Japanese

This exceptionally rare release from Hibiki combines the quiet power of Japanese whisky craftsmanship with striking visual artistry. Aged 21 years and wrapped in an elegant design by renowned painter Hiroshi Senju, it delivers rich depth, refined complexity and an aesthetic presence that transcends the ordinary. For the serious collector and refined sipper alike, this is a masterpiece of both flavour and form.

Origins & Craftsmanship
This limited-edition bottling is part of Hibiki’s celebrated range of age-statement blends from Suntory. It draws from malt whiskies of the Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries, blended with grain whisky from Chita—all matured for at least 21 years. Building on Hibiki’s tradition of harmony and balance, this Honour-edition is adorned with Senju’s artwork Waterfall on Colours “Hibiki”, which uses natural pigments to depict ten gradations of Kokimurasaki purple—a hue symbolising nobility in Japanese culture. The reflexive art-and-whisky pairing emphasises the shared themes of nature, craft, flow and time. The blend is bottled at 43% ABV, non-chill-filtered, and presented in a bottle & box that heighten its collectible status.

Tasting Profile

  • Nose: Layered and elegant, this whisky opens with ripe blackberry, banana, and soft caramel. Underlying these are fine sandalwood notes, delicate coconut and honeycomb richness. A faint whisper of Mizunara oak can also be detected, lending a subtle spice and sandalwood-wood aroma.

  • Palate: Smooth yet full-bodied; orchard fruits and dried apricot dance alongside salted caramel, vanilla bean and gentle oak tannins. A core of honeyed malt adds warmth, complemented by refined wood spice—ginger-bread, maybe the slightest clove.

  • Finish: Long, graceful and soothing. The return of sandalwood and fragrant incense lingers, while dark fruit kernels and mild Mizunara spice carry the flavour forward. The finish fades into soft spice and a clear echo of elegant oak.
