Ferrand Late Harvest Yuzu Curacao
Ferrand Late Harvest Yuzu Curaçao is a brilliant modern twist on the classic French dry curaçao. Crafted on a base of Ferrand Cognac and brandy, it combines the vibrant aromatics of late-harvest yuzu citrus with the traditional bitter-orange structure of historic curaçao recipes. Bright, fragrant, and complex, it delivers an electrifying balance of tart citrus, candied fruit, and subtle spice—making it a standout ingredient for elevated cocktails.
Origins & Craftsmanship
Ferrand Late Harvest Yuzu Curaçao is produced in France by Maison Ferrand, the Cognac house led by master blender Alexandre Gabriel. The project was developed in collaboration with cocktail historian David Wondrich, continuing Ferrand’s mission to revive historic 19th-century liqueur styles for modern cocktail culture.
The liqueur is built on the same foundation as Ferrand’s renowned Dry Curaçao, but introduces the intensely aromatic yuzu citrus fruit, known for its complex blend of lemon, mandarin, and grapefruit flavors.
To capture the fruit’s character, whole yuzu are macerated in grape spirit for about a week, then distilled in Ferrand’s copper stills. The resulting distillate is blended with a small amount of yuzu infusion, vanilla, brandy, and Ferrand Cognac before bottling.
The fruit used for this edition is late-harvest yuzu, picked after peak ripeness to concentrate aromatic oils and sweetness, which adds pastry-like richness and depth to the final spirit.
Bottled at 40% ABV, the liqueur balances bright citrus freshness with the complexity and texture of its Cognac base, making it especially appealing to bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts.
