Louis Roederer 2015 Brut Nature Champagne Louis Roederer & Philippe Starck

This bold, ultra-dry Champagne from Louis Roederer, created in collaboration with designer Philippe Starck, is a masterclass in precision, terroir expression and age-worthy elegance. It merges the subtlety of zero dosage with firm structure, vivid mineral clarity and layered complexity — a standout among modern luxury Brut Nature releases.

Origins & Craftsmanship

Produced from the 2015 vintage in the Champagne region of France — principally from the clay-rich hillsides of Cumières and surrounding grands crus vineyards. The house’s Brut Nature series (zero added sugar) was developed in tandem with Philippe Starck, who not only designed the label but contributed to the creative concept of the cuvée. The 2015 bears a high proportion of Pinot Noir, with Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier in support, reflecting Louis Roederer’s emphasis on estate-owned vineyards and biodynamic practices. The wine is fermented with native yeasts, aged on its lees for many years and bottled with zero dosage, allowing the pure vineyard character and mineral backbone to shine.

Critics Reviews

  • Jeb Dunnuck awarded it 95 points, writing: “Forward with vinous and spicy aromas of saline and red currant, orange blossom and smoke… expansive on the palate while maintaining fresh acidity… full of gastronomy appeal.”

  • Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate considered it “the most compelling rendition of this bottling produced to date,” describing it as “layered and vinous” with “a long, precise finish.”

  • Wine Enthusiast’s Roger Voss gave it 94 points, noting that the aging has softened the wine’s natural dryness and given it a “light biscuit flavour” while remaining fully balanced and ready to drink.

Tasting Profile

  • Nose: Pale lemon-straw hue. Aromas of white orchard fruits (fresh apple, pear), white flowers, fine citrus peel (lemon, lime) and a saline-mineral undercurrent. Secondary notes of brioche, hazelnut and light toast begin to emerge with age.

  • Palate: Crisp and focused — chalky minerality, lime zest and green-apple freshness lead the way. The wine’s texture is fine-beaded yet elegant, with hints of wet stone, orange blossom, and subtle smoked almond. Structure is firm but refined.

  • Finish: Long and invigorating; a lasting chalky line, white-pepper spice and delicate bitterness linger, leaving a clean, dry impression and a promise of further evolution in bottle.
